Today is the World Day for Farmed Animals, a day dedicated to giving some thought and attention to the estimated 70 billion cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, and other sentient land-based animals who are being slaughtered in the world’s factory farms each year.
Because the numbers are so high and hard to grasp, we broke it down to daily numbers (and found out they were also high and hard to grasp). This year more than ever we also know that this industry, apart from being unbelievably cruel, also has devastating implications on our planet, and needs to be significantly slowed down for the sake of future generations.
